Welcome, I’m Irving Feurst, the founder and director of the Spiritual Unfoldment Network. The Spiritual Unfoldment Network, as the name implies, is a network of teachers I have trained who are doing something that’s historically unique. Our goal is to make esoteric energy work and initiations from all of the world’s different spiritual traditions widely available to the public from one source, without restrictive dogma. That is, we’re not trying to tell people how to live their lives, what they have to believe in.

Really, when you come right down to it, there are two foundational principles that S.U.N. is built on. The first of these principles is that the truth is inside you. The reason you don’t need anyone to tell you how to live your life or what to believe in is, if you go into your own heart, you will find it all right there. This has been said by the world’s great spiritual teachers over and over for many centuries. In the gospel according to Luke, there’s a very beautiful passage where the Pharisees are talking to Jesus, and they’re asking him to explain what is this “kingdom of God” you’re always talking about? What Jesus says is that “The kingdom of God is not coming with things that can be observed. Nor will they say look, ‘here it is’ or ‘there it is’, for the truth is, it is within you.” Some versions of the gospel – particularly from some of the early church fathers - translate that passage as “…the truth is inside your own heart”.

In the Dhammapada, which is a collection of the oral sayings of the Buddha, the Buddha says, “the way is not in the sky, the way is in the heart”. In the Koran, Muhammad says that there are two kinds of truths, the truths of the tongue and the truths of the heart which are, he said, the more important of the two. So, this is the first principle that S.U.N. is based upon, that the truth is inside you, in your own heart.

The second principle is that a master key to unlocking that truth is shakti, a Hindu term we use because there’s not really a word in English to explain this concept. A shakti is a spiritual or metaphysical energy that behaves intelligently. The important thing to understand about this is that it’s not my or another S.U.N. teacher’s personal energy, it’s energy that’s there in the universe, put there by God or source or whatever term you prefer to use. You’ll find even more information in the first chapter of a book I coauthored with Virginia Essene, called Energy Blessings from the Stars.

All of our classes are energy initiation classes, initiations that involve shakti, in which your energy field is somehow changed for the better. Again, it’s not my personal energy, it’s divine energy to help you on your spiritual path. S.U.N. teachers are merely conduits for that energy. So, the most important part of any S.U.N. course is actually receiving the energy work. Although there is information in the courses, sometimes information that’s difficult or even impossible to obtain elsewhere. Nevertheless, the most important part is actually receiving the energy work.
